Flu season already?

Ben is home sick today with a headache, sore throat and fever. We aren't even a week into the fall season. What will winter be like? Scott and I gave him vitamins, tylenol, toast and enough water to get him through the morning. Scott will check on him around noon and hopefully his fever will have broken.

Not enough hours in the day or the night!

Daisy, Lilly and Mel slept with me last night. I somehow didn't have enough room in the Cal. King bed to stretch out; hum, I wonder why????

They are old enough to be sleeping through the night by now, but they woke me up twice last night to go out. Oh, they are such little stinkers! While I am waiting for them to do their business outside, I load and unload the dishwasher or start a load of laundry cause there is never enough time during the day and it makes my wait time go by faster.

When I got out of the shower this morning, I found Daisy asleep with her head on my pillow. Now how adorable is this???? When I see this, it makes getting up and having to do housework in the middle of the night ALL worth it. They are after all my chunky fur babies.

Nathan football vs Sartell (and Jackson)

Nathan played QB against his best friend Jackson Miller, who transfered to Sartell a couple of years ago. The boys still get together and play Madden for HOURS!!! It's great to see them growing up together. They have known each other since 1st. grade at Lincoln.

Nathan is #15

Nathan has some terrific coaches! Here they are after the big win over Sartell.

Brief encounters

Friday morning I went into Ben's room to say goodbye before I headed to work. He was still sleeping and wasn't in the mood to talk. I rubbed his back and told him good luck for his football game, knowing that I wouldn't see him until after the game or the team meal, close to maybe midnight. TECH won and it was an exciting game to watch after it quit raining.

The leaves were falling from the sky when Nolan came over to talk to me after the game. It was a wonderful feeling that he found me and I didn't have to find him. We talked for a couple of minutes before he chatted with the coaches and Bob Hanks as he walked off the field for the bus. I didn't get to talk to Ben on the field, he came to wake me up later that night after the team meal. I don't remember what we talked about, but I do remember telling both the boys that I loved them and that we're proud of them. Each conversation was brief, but I will take what I can get in their busy lives.

I wish I had more time with them; more often.

18 years ago I was with them all by myself, just the 3 of us, alone for hours at a time.

Nathan's football game against North 9/21/09

Nathan is #15, standing next to his football and baseball buddy, Austin Klaverkamp #21.
It was a great game and each time had one touchdown. It was definately a smackdown game.

Ben's first deer of 2009.

Ben shot a nice doe yesterday morning and Katie was with him to go on the blood trail and recovery effort.

Nolan, Sam and Nathan went along also. The girls got to see a cute porpupine in a tree while they waited for the boys.

Ben cut his finger pretty bad while gutting his deer, so he let Nathan finish the job for him.

Nolan and Nathan deer opener 2009 wisconsin

Nolan and Nathan had a very successfull bow hunting opener in Wisconsin. They each took does on Sunday morning.
Scott had to process the deer almost entirely by himself because of the heat, combined with the boys' busy football schedules. Daisy and Lilly loved all the meat scrapes. Daisy ate way too much though, she almost looked square when I came home from work on Monday.

Here is Nathan's hand next to the hole his RAGE made

I tried to entertain the girls while my four boys were out of town, so I took the girls for a 'truck ride'. Daisy is smiling and loving it!!!
The girls are waiting for daddy and the boys to come home.

I washed 3 sets football uniforms yesterday morning. As I was loading the washer with #15, #35 and #40 I began to feel sad and tried to cherish this time. This will be my last year washing 3 football uniforms. It's become a Saturday morning ritual for me, one that I will miss, just like how now I miss washing their matching Batman pajamas, Nathan's striped onesies and all the Power Ranger tee shirts.

Tech won their first game of the year on Friday night in Bemidij. St. Cloud Tech 42 and Bemidji 21. Nolan didn't play because his ACL tear was really bothering him, but Ben played. We didn't drive up to watch and I am really bummed about it, but we listened to it on the radio and it was really exciting!

Loosing or gaining?

Scott and the boys left for Wisconsin Saturday morning for bow hunting at our cabin. The truck was packed full. Although the dogs and I were still at home, I know that the truck was packed full of the emotional support and excitement that the boys needed for a successful weekend. * Update* Scott just called to say that Ben shot a nice doe and Katie is going on a blood trail with him. Oh how exciting for them! I am happy for all my boys, they all have gotten a deer in the first 2 weeks of the season!

Nate's first 8th grade game as QB ended in a tie against J23. The coach didn't let him throw the ball, so he handed it off play after play.
It wasn't the prettiest game, but it's so great to see him out on the field!!

Our three young men

Theresa took Ben and Nolan's senior pictures last weekend and Nathan got in a few of them. I LOVE this picture!

Nolan on the front cover of the sports section

Nolan is #40. He played every 3rd series with his brace on for his torn ACL. He is playing very well and will be playing more and more as the season goes on. This picture was taken at Clark field against Sartell on 9/11/09.
